A career shaped by India's first gastroenterology department
Dr. Sujit Nair is a Consultant Gastroenterologist, Hepatologist and Interventional Endoscopist practicing across leading hospitals in Thane — including Jupiter Hospital, KIMS Hospital, Vedant Hospital, and Jinkushal Cardiac Care & Superspeciality Hospital.
He completed his MBBS at MIMER Medical College, Talegaon Dabhade, before going on to complete his MD in General Medicine and DM in Gastroenterology at Topiwala National Medical College (TNMC) & BYL Nair Charitable Hospital, Mumbai — home to India's very first gastroenterology department.
Following his DM, Dr. Nair served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Gastroenterology at BYL Nair Hospital for two years. In this role, he taught DM students, mentored junior residents, and remained actively involved in clinical research — work that resulted in 25+ publications across national and international indexed journals.
He is trained in advanced hepatology and interventional endoscopy, and today performs a wide range of emergency and elective procedures, including ERCP for large stones and strictures, pancreatic ERCP, diagnostic and therapeutic EUS, EUS-guided drainage, variceal banding, esophageal dilatation, polypectomy, enteroscopy, manometry, and PEG tube placement. He is also an international member of the American Gastroenterological Association (AGA).
